Casa F takes its name in honor of a pivotal figure in the project, encapsulating the essence of contemporary Costa Rican architecture in a distinctive setting. Inspired by principles of bioclimatic architecture, biophilic design, and wellness, it seamlessly integrates modern living with a relaxed, healthy lifestyle, fostering a profound connection with nature while ensuring residents’ privacy.
Situated within one of the country’s most prestigious residential areas, Casa F graces land once occupied by a coffee plantation. Drawing inspiration from its surroundings—encompassing panoramic vistas of Rancho Redondo’s mountains and the Irazú Volcano, as well as lush onsite vegetation—the residence meticulously preserves and enhances the site’s natural richness.
The project’s strategic orientation plays a pivotal role in achieving harmony between functionality, comfort, and energy efficiency, while leveraging the local climate and terrain. Addressing the elongated plot’s predominant eastern views, Casa F ingeniously integrates open spaces conducive to environmental connection, resident privacy, and interior temperature regulation.
Through close collaboration with the client, Casa F materializes into two distinct structures: the primary residence facing the front of the plot and a rear social area, fostering an active, healthy lifestyle. The design process integrates exhaustive site analysis, incorporating bioclimatic and passive strategies to optimize environmental comfort and indoor air quality.
Indoors, Casa F unfolds across two levels, with the ground floor serving as the family hub. An inviting internal garden extends nature’s embrace into the heart of the home, seamlessly integrating with a capacious social area comprising the living, dining, and kitchen spaces. Ascending to the second level, residents find personalized sanctuaries, ensconced in privacy and panoramic views.
Dedicated to sustainability, Casa F incorporates advanced technologies to combat climate change, such as solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, and systems for water capture, filtration, and UV sterilization. Landscaping harmoniously blends with the surroundings, utilizing native, water-efficient flora to enrich the site’s ecosystem and foster local biodiversity.
Outdoors, an expansive garden hosts social amenities, including a spool, sauna, and BBQ area, designed to cultivate a balanced, active lifestyle.
